I noticed on a high-color-def image I uploaded, the color information was stripped.
This noticeable affects the image quality and would have a similar (but smaller effect) than if the image had been recoded from jpg -> gif.
Can this be fixed?
The original had an average brightness of 61.45, median 28, stddev 74 The profile removed version has average brightness 59.20, median 27 and stddev 70.96.
That's about 1% loss in brightness and 2% loss in dynamic range and that's only on an 8-bit image.
I have no issue with stripping EXIF data that is NOT color profile data, but I've yet to successfully embed a color profile in a png that looks right in any common viewer, vs. I get consistent results embedding profile info in jpg & tif (the images appear identical).
