Is there an easy way for non-mods to rename a tag, or would it have to involve a tag deletion and creation (thus requiring editing the images' tags, messing up associated tag subscriptions and wiki references, etc.)?

If a mod has to do it, then I'd like to request that origuchi_miu be renamed to orikuchi_miu. She's a character from natsu no iro no nostalgia. kuchi (くち) might be an unusual reading for 口 as a second kanji, but the official site gives this reading (as do Getchu and Anime Characters Database).

Mass tag edits should only be done by a mod as we can set up rules to keep tags clean after the fix, so thank you for not attempting it yourself. A mod should be around in a bit that can handle the edit if they agree with the request.

If anyone is interested, there are two concerns about tag replacement:

1) If the old tag was widely used (means it either has been tagged as so for hundreds times here, or it's another "correct" name of the object), we would set the old tag as the new one's alias name, and then the system will replaced it automatically. People can still search with the old tag, it will be redirected.

And you can also suggest alias name there, mods will verify and approve/disapprove them.

2) If the old tag is simply wrong (like the one we're talking about), we just need to mass replace it with scripts. But we need to make sure every posts, including deleted/held posts, are corrected. Alias in this case is unnecessary.

Thanks, and that info definitely helps. I hadn't thought about deleted/held posts, and good to know how we'd draw the line between removing a tag versus aliasing it.
