Uploading images
Hi i was wondering what is the criteria to uploading images successfully?
The only one i know is that is has to be high enough resolution.
1.6 mp about 1000x1600 pixels
and not using an upscaler like waifu2x as it removes detail.

But what if i were to use photoshop rescale the image and remove the jpg artifacts and redo the image to make the picture clean and good looking(which is subjective), would that work ?
1.6MP is minimum, but I believe up to 1.8MP goes into the mod queue where is may still be rejected.

I assume by rescaling you mean upscaling? That's not acceptable. Cropping is frowned upon, but may be required for poor quality scans.

The two criteria for this site are:

High quailty
High resolution

Always worth having a quick look at https://yande.re/wiki/show?nordirect=1&title=howto%3Ado_everything

Okay so no upscaling because of quality degradation(is that correct?),

what about redoing an image using photoshop?

Some artist do it and the images are up. But what’s the moderator’s opinion or is it a case by case basis?
An example. Can I upload something like this?

If not, why?
And if I were to fix the issue can it be uploaded ?
Upscaling algorithms are getting good, and it's getting difficult to tell what has been and hasn't been upscaled. waifu2x has some good filtering built in though.

Until you get used to the photoshop/GIMP/Waifu2x filtering tools, keep the filtering as light as possible. It's very easy to lose detail when removing screening or jpg artifacts.

Personally I dislike where someone has made changes to the artists original image (i.e. nudeshops)

Yeah waifu2x does remove a lot of details to a work so it doesn’t look as good as the lower resolution original.

But it seems to be a pretty good basis to accurately recreate the original art piece.

I use GIMP + G'MIC but you have to be careful with the settings.

Could someone remind me which is the best Waifu2x download for filtering only?
What is this site for?
There isn’t an about page in the how to link you sent.

From the outside looking in it’s suppose to be library of high quality and high resolution images.
But other than the high resolution that is mesureable, quality is pretty subjective and the subjectivity is based on the moderators personal preferences which are not exactly stated. How is something judged as high quality or low quality?

So you personally dislike when someone’s made changes to the original(the original being too low resolution and there is no where to find an original that doesn’t have artifacts even when scanned but scans are okay based on the how to) and reject the image, yet allow images redrawn by a different artist of the exact same thing on the site, it doesn’t really make much sense. It’s confusing.

A great site but confusing. All the best to you.

Thanks for the recommendation of GIMP I’ll try that out with photoshop to make the images better.
This site is for collecting original material. Either posted digitally by artist themselves, or from scans.

It is NOT a place to post 3rd-party modified images beyond necessary editing (in case of scans), Upscaling is just one of the worse example of such "modification".
High quality meant two things back when our original material was scanned:

A good scan with minimal flaws (Objective)
An good artist (Subjective)

Nowadays, it's mostly digital artwork. I trust the mods to be as impartial as possible when forced to judge an image on it's merits.

Thank you guys for clarifying, it makes a lot more sense now.
Original is I bit hard as digital can be easily replicated.

An example that’s abit a confusing, as this can essentially be described as a 3rd party modified image that is beyond the nessary that is still accepted or is something like this considered a derivative material and thus considered an original?
I’m guessing this is a subjective piece along with nudeshops that are accepted.

All the best and have a great week.

Could you specify? Is post #444681 based on some other image? If so we will delete it.

That is the issue I am asking,

What is your impartial judgement?

Is the post considered in your own words “3rd-party modified images beyond necessary editing“ thus should be deleted being based on the other image

Or

A piece original material.

This isn’t clear as it can be seen as both an original and a 3-third party modified image since visually they are depicting the same character in the same pose.

I’m genuinely curious on your thoughts on the matter, what’s the line of originality and how is it judged in this subjective case?

Have a great day and all the best to you.

Seems like a official visual for the anime then (see Amazon.co.jp).

What you did is quite funny and goes against the sprite of
・You will make a best faith effort to upload only high quality anime-related images.
It’s not actually mentioned anywhere that derivatives aren’t allowed in the TOS.
Have a great day.
