We wouldn't have people posting complaints if there wasn't something wrong... The fact that its not affecting everyone is a troubleshooting tool, not a writeoff... The website is still degraded / partially offline (here in the US).
France here, and it is currently 23:44 (CEST). I don’t think we are on rush hours right now, and it is still slow (like it was yesterday at the same hour, when I have posted my first report about the current problem).
TBH I can tolerate even just 50KB/s, but I keep getting it stopping completely showing things like this:

Which feels to me like a real issue, not just a slowdown.
I'm newer to this site, doe the admin monitor the forums much?

Also, I tried imouto, it seems to run faster until you hit the files.yande.re uri... downloads halt after about 500 or so KB.

Rush hour refer to yande.re's rush hour which happen to be around the late evening to midnight within timezone GMT +7 through GMT +9

That's on their server (files.yande.in). If you are also having problem with that, you probably have a local ISP problem.

I'm clueless at this point. I'm having 0 issues loading thumbnails and samples. Tried to test with few ISP I have (remote) access to from Asia as well.

A 1MB PNG file load in 3 seconds for me on a 100Mbps, again, from both Asia and North America.

Also none of the staff complain about the site speed, and they are from Japan, NA, EU, and SEA region.

Further testing are necessary.
the strangest part is that I had the exact same problem with pixiv just 2 days ago. and since yesterday with yandere
Currently in US West, the download speed from files.yande.re is less than 90KB/s

So, it is between 15:00 and 17:00 for UTC+2. OK.

I repeat: you’re really lucky. Because I’m on a 100 Mbps too, and I had to wait around 10 seconds to fully load a < 200 kiB picture, tonight. And it’s like this for 3 days, now.
Note that I don’t say that you’re lying.

Very strange: it affects some people all round the world, but not others.
Today at 2:35PM PDT seems the load time has improved in the San Francisco area. I have a 51/60 Mbps up/down fiber connection as checked by speedtest.

post #768113 pops up instantly on Danbooru and Gelbooru, but now takes 15 seconds due to stalls to completely load on yand.re

So I'm thinking it's something there, but as with all network issues I'd say it is going to be temporary and should be normal in my area before long.
I've been waiting before saying anything so I could get as complete a picture as I can from where I am. My experience with the site at present seems to indicate it is experiencing several things at once. First the monthly issue of maintenance. Second the site itself is really slow and has a huge packet loss as well. Third there seems to be something going on with most of the pic sites I frequent. What this might be I have no idea. That's my own observational input. Hope it's helpful in some small way. Note: SW US. Access times: varies from early morning to late night. All times have same issue.

1.1 min right now, here, with frequents stalls, too.
The full png load for me in 4.05s.

Do me a favor, press F12 using chrome or chrominium based, go to network, check the box Disable Cache and press F5 to refresh the full size png. Click on the image files, click on the tab Timing and share me the results of Request Sent/TTFB/Content Download.
I did the Performance measuring in FireFox... All queries from yande.re were reasonable with the exception of files.yande.re.

// Query
files.yande.re << NS_BINDING_ABORTED
yande.re << 334ms
assets.yande.re << 50-75ms (AVG)
files.yande.re << 68208ms (Thumbnail)

// Download
files.yande.re (Full 4.3MB PNG) << 114032ms (56KB then timeout).

// Note
I'm in Midwest (USA) with 1Gbps download.
Also, does the server have multiple storage solutions? Perhaps calling the images themselves from Storage is an issue.

Just did a test. US West, Comcast network.

Even in the same data center, your server still suffers from severe packet loss.Is its bandwidth full? You should check if your server is limited by them. Maybe a bot is maliciously downloading large-size images of the site, causing the server bandwidth to be full.

Hi there!

Started happening to be about 2 days ago as well - US west.
Here to help out if possible. My observation is that it only happens on individual image files. Thumbnails and artist galleries load like usual - so it looks like what the others said "files.yande.re" is slow?

Here's my result for the linked image: https://files.yande.re/jpeg/ac047f534122ebc5b0c480c8128a22e6/yande.re%20468007%20dress%20jiji%20loli%20no_bra%20see_through%20skirt_lift%20summer_dress.jpg

Let's see, another thing to report is that images like this one just doesn't finish loading: https://files.yande.re/image/5d0729dfa26aa4d1c1efb6e8e6155f37/yande.re%20738465%20animal_ears%20bra%20karyl_%28princess_connect%29%20lingerie%20minutachi%20nekomimi%20pantsu%20princess_connect%20princess_connect%21_re%3Adive%20tail.jpg

I hope this gives some data to debug.

Located in US South.

I'm also experiencing major slow downs.

It takes around 40 seconds to download an 8MB file.

Sometimes it just stops loading at the beginning.
For posts that have source link (pixivi/twitter...etc), I download it from there and paste the yande file name on it.
As a temporary work around, save some wait time.
Due to wild variant, while testing, that doesn't seem to conform to anything, be it geography, ISP, and/or bandwidth. I have strong reason to believe this is hitting the bandwidth cap.

Then again, I'm not gonna lie, we use a solid 10TB - 10.5TB / day from vnstat, and the server has a 1Gbps line. >300TB/month solid right there.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford anything more than this.
Are you able to narrow down bandwidth usage to any abusive bots/users?

In fact, almost all Booru sites use Cloudflare CDN to reduce server load,Because their servers don't have that much bandwidth. You only need to use CDN for files.yande.re,Instead of using it for thumbnails(assets.yande.re and yande.re).
If you can't afford more, we can donate.
I don't understand how a site can hit the "bandwidth cap" all of sudden, going from 5-10MB/s to 50KB/s-100KB/s - and not just during the peak hours, but in any hour of the day I tried...if was a bandwidth cap, shouldn't it hit more "gradually" ? this feels like the site suddenly got 10x times the normal traffic out of the blue
Maybe he's talking about the allotted bandwidth for the month... We're at the end of April and we probably hit it early. 10TB a day is nothing to sneeze at and sites do get user spikes. I've recently returned this year as other sites have been bogus when it comes to High Res content.

But I second the notion that if more bandwidth is required, we can donate funds to help.
Using google trends, the site has twice as much activity then one year ago. The pandemic really made people use internet more.
