server move
we're going across the ocean over to Europe in the next few days.
Aaas! Nooo. Now my connection will get even slower. * sigh * Is it permanent? And how many of the servers?
O.o so it's permanent yes? And BTW ty for info.
Oh my God... And...

What will be the greatest difference upon this change?

(Forgive my noobness)
might be faster for some, slower for others, shouldn't see much of a change
What's the reasoning behind switching hosting? Price? Laws?
but wait. Wasn't europe(mainly UK) the one with all the laws AGAINST child images, pornography, etc.? I'm going by this forum #6120
I think the point is miles of paperwork would be involved to deal with it from across international borders. They aren't likely to bother when there are bigger fish to catch.
These days the night are dark and cold. First ShareEX in Japan ,then ACG "shot down" in China, and then lawsuits here... well who knows what the hell next?
So far feels like a seamless transition.
The site is running normally here, I hope things keep up like this.
And good luck with the moving, may everything work ok.
I've been having terrible site performance over the last two days, particularly tonight. Very slow performance loading the resized and original images of posts. And even thumbnails not showing up at all. For example: http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/740/capture1225200934841am.jpg
Site is actually fast for once, but seems like one of the mirror sites is offline most of the time.

But other then that, 5 sec for an 10MB PNG insetad of 20-30 min is a MAYOR improvment.
It still feels like performance overall is down from before the server move, but it has improved greatly over the last week.
