和がテーマの展示会ということで、いつもよりちょっと雰囲気あリげに描いてみました。僕の好きな神社が伏見稲荷神社なので狐のお面などを付けさせて頂きました。
行ったことのない方は是非行ってみて下さい。鳥居がいっぱいです。
The theme of the exhibition is ‘Japanesque’ so I exaggerated this element a bit more than usual.
My favorite shrine is Fushimi Inari so I gave the girl a fox mask.
If you have never been there, I hope you visit it. It has lots of torii gateways. |

日本のサブカルチャーにおけるアンダーグラウンドな面を強調してみました。暴力的で扇情的、嗜好の多様性に基づく這い寄る混;Iそれらを中二病•セ一ラ一服少女、触手に絡めています。嘘です。同時に海外に於いて評価を得るに到ったカルチャ一も籠めています。春画を含む浮世絵•漫画•アニメ、様々な分野の一部分をアイコニックに配置し、それらに対する深い敬意を嘘です。他にもHENTAIを忘れてはいけません。海外での影響力たるや嘘です。要素としては割りと事実だったリもしますが、文章としてはまぁ嘘です。基本的には刹那的快楽とカオスのために様々な分野から色々なものをぶち込んだ物です。が、その快楽に血道をあげる者、それを評価できる者、そのコミュニティが多岐にわたるジャンルで成立しているのが曰本という国の強みだと感じます。嘘です。ちなみに少女の目は浮世絵への才マージュです。これは本当。
I wanted to stress one facet of Japanese underground subculture. It is a violent, sensational chaos, based on the diversified tastes that are creeping up. Low-teen syndrome a girl in a sailor uniform and a tentacle-like object are entangled in these. That's a lie. It also incorporates the culture that has become popular overseas. Woodblock prints (including pornography), manga, and anime; a section of various genres has been laid out in an iconic fashion and this was made in homage to them; no, that's a lie. We must not forget the HENTAI either. That is an influential factor overseas; no it's a lie. Elements of it are quite true, but put in writing, well, it is a lie. Basically, I have collected various motifs of momentary ecstasy and chaos and mixed them all in together. People who become obsessed with ecstasy, people who admire this; it is the diversity of this community, over a variety of genres, that is one of the national strengths of Japan. That is a lie. The girl's eyes were drawn in homage to woodblock prints. That is the truth. |

八百万の神様なんていうけれど、実際私たちの周りにはあふれるくらい神様がいる。神社はそこかしこにあるし、お盆や結婚式、クリスマスといろんな神様仏様のお世話になっている。感謝することはあんまりないのに、困った時は図々しく神頼みしてみたり。
神様を合わせてお祀リするのは二つのろうそくの火を一緒にするようなものなんだとか。だとしたら、天照大神も大日如来もキリストも、金比羅様やおいなリさんも氏神様もご先祖様も、このはじっこの国に押し込まれて大きな—つの火になってしまったのかもね。お正月やお盆、クリスマスには日本人がみんなで共有している『なんだかよくわからない巨大なろうそくの火』を少しだけ借リてきて好きな名前で畏怖と尊敬を表しているのだ。
それだから私たちは自分だけの特別な神様を持つことだってできるし、そんな神様は他の神様を否定したりしない。都合のよい話だけれど日本はやっぱリ神様の国だと思うな。
In Japan people often refer to the 'eight million gods', and it is a fact that we are surrounded by numerous gods. There are shrines built everywhere and during the Festival of the Dead, weddings or Christmas, we are indebted to Buddha and various gods. We seldom offer them gratitude, but soon ask their help when we are in trouble.
It is said that to worship all the gods together is like combining the flames of two candles, but if this were true, it would mean that Amaterasu Omikami, Dainichi Nyorai, Christ, Kompira, Oinari and all the tutelary gods had been stuffed into this country on the edge of the continent and become a single fire. At the New Year, the Festival of the Dead or Christmas it is as if we borrow a little piece of the 'flame of the giant candle nobody understands’, giving it our own name to express our awe and worship.
That is why we are able to possess our own personal gods and why that particular god will not deny the other gods. It may sound a bit self-serving, but I think that Japan is truly the land of the gods. |

□本には世界に誇れる数多くの文化があります。その様々な文化の中から四季と礼儀をテ一マとして取り上げました。この作品から日本らしさを感じて頂ければと思います。東曰本大震災では、どんな困難な状況におかれても礼儀を大切にする日本の国民性が改めて注目されました。日本人らしい思いやりと譲り合いの心をどんな時も忘れず；日本が日本らしく。それが今一番大切なことかもしれません。
Japan has a culture of which it can be proud. Of all the aspects of this culture, I chose a theme that represented the four seasons and good manners. I hope that this illustration appears typically Japanese to you. After the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, the victims have been forced to live in very hard conditions, but it presents us with an opportunity to realize afresh how highly the Japanese prize good manners. We should never forget the Japanese spirit of compassion and compromise, and always act like Japanese. This may well be the most important thing we can do now. |

「曰本」をテ一マという今回のコンセプトから純和風以外で何か日本を表現できないものかと悩みつつ、春らしい色と萌え絵として違和感の無い仕上がりを目指しました。
一目でわかる日本的なモチーフは「桜」と「和装ロリ服」ですが、実は女の子も「富士山」をモチーフにしています。
タイトルでネタバレしないようにあえて「富士」は入れないでおいたのですが、絵だけで「富士山」を連想してもらえたら幸いです。
Having been given the theme of ‘Japan’ as the concept for this exhibition, I asked myself how I could portray Japan without resorting to traditional images and after much thought, I decided to combine the colors of spring and moe to produce a work that would come together in a natural fashion.
The Japanese motifs of ‘cherry blossom’ and ‘Japanese-style lolita fashion’ can be recognized at a glance, but the outline of the girl simultaneously creates an image of Mt. Fuji.
1 did not use the word ‘Fuji’ in the title in order not to give away the trick, but I hope that you will be able to catch a glimpse of the image of Mt. Fuji when you see it. |

春の卒業式シーズンで見られるような袴とブーツというハイカラな衣装は、個人的には「卒業」というよりも「(希望に満ちた）出発」というイメージの方が強い感じがしています。イラストの方では華やかな女性袴を描かせて頂きましたが、華やかな装飾ではなくても女性の袴姿って魅力的ですよね。
During the graduation season in spring, we see many girls dressed in a classic style like this, with kimono, hakama skirts and boots. To me, this style creates an image of (hopeful) ‘departure’ rather than 'graduation'. In this illustration I have drawn the a girl in colorful kimono and hakama, but even without the flamboyant pattern, I think that girls look very attractive in hakama. |

「日本」をテーマに、との事でしたので「夜桜」にしました。幻想的で神秘的な雰囲気にしたかったので女の子達も無表情にしようかと悩みましたが、やっぱり女の子は笑っているほうが良いなと思い、笑顔にしました。
As the theme was ‘Japan’ I decided to use ‘cherry blossom at night’ for my subject. I thought of depicting the girls with expressionless faces in order to create an impression of fantasy and mystery, but then I thought no, girls look better when they are smiling so I gave them smiles instead. |

日本をテ一マにしたイラストという事で、何を書こうかとても迷ったのですが、大好きなモチーフの耳っ子と、絢爛な雰囲気のある花魁を合わせたイラストを描かせて頂きました。妖怪の遊郭っぽい感じで…。
花魁とかむろが描きたかったので、花魁は九尾の狐なイメージで、かむろは見習いっぽく子狐イメージで、髪型や着物は萌え絵っぽくアレンジしつつ、とっても楽しく描かせて頂きました！
The object was to produce an illustration on the subject of Japan and I could not make up my mind what to draw. In the end I decided to use my favorite motif of young girls with animal ears set among the dazzling splendor of a courtesan's apartment. It is evocative of a monsters' pleasure quarter...
I wanted to draw a picture of a courtesan with her young servants, so I based the image of the courtesan on that of the nine-tailed fox and that of her servants on fox cubsT their hairstyles and clothes are based on the moe style and I really enjoyed drawing it! |

タイトルに悩んでいたら運良くこの単語にたどり着きました。
変な向きだし釣りもしているし…
うまいことまとまりました。内緒です。
日本文化であるゴシックアンドロリータと、古くから烏賊釣り用漁具として使われ現代では和製ルアーとして確立されたエギ。
一見どちらも日本っぽさを感じないものを組み合わせてみました。
何故だか描いていて首が疲れましたが。
東北漁業復活の祈りをこめて。
Angle — Fishing.
I had trouble thinking up a title for this work, but then luckily I came across this word.
The subject is portrayed from a strange angle and she is fishing... it was the ideal title. It’s a secret.
Gothic and lolita, which are both part of Japanese culture combined with a kind of Japanese fishing lure that has been used to catch squid since ancient times.
At first glance, it does not appear to be a very Japanese combination.
I don't know why, but I got a stiff neck while I was drawing this.
I pray for the revival of the fishing industry in the Tohoku region. |

光と闇が交錯する不思議な空間。
一瞬で通り過ぎてしまうから閉じ込めておきたくなる。少女という存在もおなじなのかもしれません。
I drew this with the image of twilight.
It is not daytime but neither is it night.
It is a mysterious space in which light and dark mingle. It passes in a moment so people want to trap it.
The same may be said of a young girl. |

日本伝統の遊び『折リ紙』をモチーフとした作品です。
折リ紙と相性の良い巫女服を纏った少女が乗る「紅白鶴」を始め、「鶴」「鳩」「鳥」「力モメ」「赤トンボ」「ウミガメ」「腕輪」「ひし形つづリ」の9種類の折リ紙を使用しました。
This work uses a motif derived from the traditional Japanese pastime of origami.
A young girl wearing the clothes of a shrine maiden, that goes well with origami, rides upon a red and white crane, surrounded by eight other types of origami: a crane, a pigeon, a bird, a seagull, a red dragonfly, a sea turtle, a bracelet and a diamond chain. |

An important element of Japanese aesthetics is the changing of the four seasons, and this is reflected even in the confectionary. I decided to use ‘tea cakes' for my theme and enjoyed drawing this picture very much. I think that a young princess who lives surrounded by flowers and sweets must be very happy indeed. |

There has always been a row of cherry trees near me, wherever I live.
I never consciously thought about it, but whenever I moved, there they were. Over time, I grew to love them and they enabled me to feel the passing of the seasons.

Thinking in this way, the image of a ‘Japanese room, tatami mats, and sliding paper doors’ sprang to mind. I drew this picture in the hope that I could transmit an image of these things that are so familiar to the Japanese people. |

この絵を描くにあたり、日本がテ一マという事で色々なモチーフを考えてみましたが、強く浮かんだのが日本の祭りのイメージでした。日本に限らず祭リというものには長い歴史があり、古くからのスタイルを変えずに残るもののように思います。
日本では各地で特色ある祭りもありますが、今回は若干ファンタジー風味を入れつつ、こことは違う何時か何処かで行われているのだけれど、日本の色が感じられるような風景とキャラクタ一を思い浮かべて描かせていただきました。
The theme for this exhibition is ‘Japan’, and I considered various motifs but of them all, the one that made the strongest impression was that of Japanese festivals. It is not just Japan, festivals everywhere have a long history and they generally preserve an ancient style.
Japan has numerous festivals unique to the places where they are held, but in this picture I have produced something of a fantasy. It may belong to a different time and place, but when I drew it, I imagined scenery and characters that would create an impression of Japan. |

奮迅極まる戦国機忍時代。怪神達が覇権を巡り争う中、黒髪の姫巫女は戦国秘七刀がひとつ「雷焰」を手に地上に降リ立つ一。
日本をテ一マに、好きなものを好きなだけ描いてみました。
大太刀を振るう女の子、大剣を担ぐツインテ一ル、メカ、忍者、筋肉、髑髏将軍、風神、雷神…。
全部自分が好きなモチーフです！
自分の好きなものを描くというのは、大変なことです。
でもそれと同じくらい、とても大切だということを、今回の絵を描いて今更ながら教えて貰った気がしました。
The furious period of the warring states machine ninja. While evil gods struggle for hegemony, a royal, black-haired, shrine maiden descends to earth, holding ‘RaierV (blazing thunder), one of the seven secret swords of the warring nations.
The theme is Japan so I have drawn what I wanted as much as I wanted.
A girl wielding a sword; pigtails, carrying a giant sword; mechanics; ninja; muscles; skull general; god of wind; god of thunder...
Oh, I love all these motifs!
It is hard to draw the things I like best.
But equally, drawing this picture made me realize afresh how important it is to do so. |
