is this show really any good? it seems quite popular, but I have been putting off watching it... One night I tried watching the first episode and was laughing and stuff, but I awoke the next morning and thought "Oh God, what did I do last night?"

I enjoyed Haruhi, lol, and this show seems very similar in more than just styles...

Actually, they're quite different. This series is about a group of four girls (then five) that revive the pop music club of their school. First season is quite funny, second season is a bit more slice of life than comedy.
