Just looking at the thumbnail, I assume that this pic is so bright is because of the paper texture? I've always wondered this but never bothered to ask/go figure out why.

Not only papers are brighter, also the diffusion of LED of scanner bright up more on darks.
they should be scanned with a different profile, but calibration zealots never learn.
