It's totally Japanese but there must be no big difference among Asian languages adopted Chinese characters.

well, before i learn japanese, i was able to understand some kanji....thanks to their similarities in both meaning and pronunciation with the chinese, well.....it was shameful that i stopped going to japanese class after i learn both hiragana and katakana,,,,,
