Haven't watched the anime yet, but I'm caught up on the novels, and he refers to himself as Huey (as mentioned, it's a nickname and what he commonly goes by), but the romanization of his real name is indeed Hugh, which is shown in a color spread in the second novel. Katakana given for Hugh is ヒュー and the one given for Huey is ヒューイ.
