The perceived distortion comes from not viewing the picture from a 'suitable perspective'; the rigth leg is farther away from the viewer than the surrounding parts, only the used monotonous shadowing might not bring enough 'feel of depth' to some viewers, causing what you describe - e.g. I feel no problems with this one.

Also, muscular tension changes the outer form of limbs, so that can be taken as another reason.

... Of course, I could be wrong, too. ;D
