Okay. Sorry. I just thought that someone might be interested in the manga that went with the image if they liked the image. Is the problem linking to other sites in general or because the material is behind a paywall?

Just post the name of the manga and its author instead of a link to another site. You can also ask to add more tags on the image to help people identify its source.

It's "Girl Next Door", by Sojihogu, though this site lists the artist as souji_hougu. Romanization sure loves to make things less consistent. :) But then again, most of us would be totally lost with the kanji, so a few differences in spelling here and there aren't so bad...

Actually we are trying to be consistent when Romanizing Japanese names, hence souji_hougu. Every long vowels are explicitly spelled out. it's the most common way in western anime community.

We do have a few exceptions, which are mostly due to historical reasons.

Well, even if yande.re is completely consistent with its romanization, others will do it differently (be they official sources or not). That's just life with romanization. So, doing stuff like searching for artists online is always going to be interesting. Sojihogu happens to be what the official translators of the manga that this image goes with picked, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's any better. It's what we get for using a different alphabet than the Japanese. ;)

One name that I keep running into that always seems to be written differently is Kou Ohtani (since I buy a lot of Anime-related and JPop CDs). LOL. in fact, I just looked him up on wikipedia, and they listed a spelling that I don't think I'd even seen before: Kow Otani. Those ō's just love to wreak havoc. :)

In any case, it's good that we try and be consistent with the romanization around here. It's just too subjective otherwise.

Yeah, Wikipedia normally will try to follow how people identify them themselves in English. In your example, we can even consider "Kow Otani" as an "English" name, instead a pure Romanization of his Japanese name.

Same apply to name order: normally they will just follow Japanese order (like this page about a less-known Japanese: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsudaira_Morisada ) but if that person is somehow popular/known in western world, chances are that they would have a more recognized western order name (like your example) and Wikipedia will follow that (and to my knowledge, Japanese people LIKE to use English order/weird non-standard romanization when romanizing their names..).

Good thing is that in Wikipedia they will always also display a "standard" (using modified Hepburn romanization) romanization/transliteration of their actual Japanese name. Unfortunately we don't have this luxury here.
