howto:comment v2 (Version 2)
The Short Version
Guidelines
- Be polite. Racist, sexist or homophobic attitudes are not tolerated. Flaming other users is not tolerated either.
- Brevity is appreciated, but posting many short comments in a short period of time is considered spamming, and your comments may be deleted.
- Mark your spoilers. The formatting for it is below. A mod will edit it for you if you forget.
- Try to keep conversation related to the image. Post in the forum or use private messages if you want to carry on a longer discussion.
- Practice safe internet habits. Private information (name, age, location, etc.) should be kept to yourself.
- Read the timestamps. You can reply to old comments, but keep in mind that the other person will most likely not see your response.
- Fix obvious mistakes instead of posting a comment about it. Leave a comment if you really have no idea what to do.
- DO NOT POST IN ALL-CAPS. You don't need to scream.
Formatting
See help:dtext for information about formatting used in the wiki and comments. Some usage notes are below.Spoilers
Spoiler tags can be given a title with [ spoiler=text here ] (remove spaces). However, they will break if there is a line break inside the tag.URLs
Use << url | text >> to alias a URL.Tag Search Shorthand
Use { {tag1 tag2} } to link to a tag search. You can search for any combination, from 1 to 6 separated by spaces, of tags and metatags. (Remove the spaces between the brackets)If you're unsure about something in an image you uploaded, we heartily recommend a short comment pointing this out. This could be anything from asking for artist/source to how to romanize a new anime or character. We'd much rather have you comment like this and give someone with the knowledge the opportunity to help out, rather than leaving it half-finished and having someone go back and clean up the mess you left.
