Using "Hentai" as a specific genre, or not - To me, is only an identifier, as far as I understand the rationale, the general consensus ex-Japan labelling any sort of ero as "Hentai".
That is fine.
But following the norm would only increase the use of the label, which is linguistically incorrect, so unless somehow the Japanese themselves starts to label ero-hon or ero-shin as hentai-hon/hentai-shin ... then maybe the labelling would justifiable (like "Tsundere"). For now, no Japanese wotaku's' I know of, would use Hentai as a genre.
So... You can be wholly specific to a point - Just take out "Hentai",
-> or to take a valued but biased stand - Leave it there, and leave the ignorant to their language rot.
