If you're showing us raws Genex, don't save them as jpeg. That just simply screw up the natural color of the raw with the lossy compression, use png as that's the only format we accept at the moment for lossless. You could run it through an optimizer to reduce the size if you wanted.
Also I hope you're not using denoising from the scanning software, those are not worth if you want a clean result as you can't control locale, otherwise you get spotty noise removal such as your madoka image. It's overfiltered at some areas, and more scanning noise should be removed. I'll just assumed you got those large jpeg artifacts noise from the from a lack of denoising and jpeg compression.
Also this isn't a denoising help thread so i'll end it here.
ps: You can set your scanning depth high but it's unnecessary to upload them at such high depth. Don't really need more than 300-450, if even that high.

Okay then. I have another raw sample.
Noise reduction is unchecked, setting is Photo, 24 bit (8 bpc I assume) and I scanned at 200 ppi and saved as png.
There is moire at that setting. I basically over scan to get rid of it, but as requested, it's a raw unadjusted scan.

That's much better. Try to achieve that norm for standard raws. Though for denoising purpose you probably would want to set it to 600dpi and resize it down as you process it.
ps: Morie is normal for raws.

imo it's heavily sharpened.
You mean 450dpi.aoie_emesai said:

I scan mine at 600.
Ok. I see you have a Photoshop plug-in for reducing noise, I can look at that.WtfCakes said:

Then I can adjust levels and reduce the size. I usually use bi-cubic standard.
then save as png
If my scanner software is not enough, I have Vuescan Pro, but I would turn off any filtering there and use what you have.
Anyway I wanted to tell forum members that Brother does make a sub $300 A3 scanner if you are interested. It comes with both Mac and PC drivers for their respective current OS. It will also communicate via your wifi router as well.
uhh yeah... back from the dead. Anyhow, for now I use the scanner at work, however it only supports 8bit, which brings me to the same question I asked waaay back; what should I buy in 2013? Epson Perfection V500 seems like a good bargain if you ask me?
Edit: it seems to support 24bit but I'm not really sure myself. it's a MFP (HP M2727nf)

I'm sorry that this is a bit of topic, but im new to this site and new to everything about scans and printing pictures. It's just that recently i found myself interested in beautifull HD pictures and i am thinking about buying a Rage of Bahamut Art book. I saw some scans of that art book on the internet and i was wondering if i could print those scans in the same quality as the art book?
I'm not a computer "geek", if i may say so, which means i am not extraordinarily good with computers or anything. So i dont see myself scanning a page of an art book and then modifying it in a photoshop program or something like that.
But i was thinking, if i can just download scans/wallpapers/pictures/images from people, i dont need to bother with scanning myself, i only need to print it. But i have no idea if it is possible to print out a scan, for instance, of an art book page in the same quality it was scanned from, or at least close to it. You know, the sharp, detailed, HD look on a glossy page.
Like i said, i am totally new to all this and i have no idea how to go about it. I searched on google to get some answers but i only come across articles telling me about how to get good scans, but i want to know how to print those scans into something that looks almost the same as if it came directly out of an art book.
Here is a link to the youtube vid with the Art book i mentioned.

I want to know if i can print the same quality as that art book. Printing big, real size wall papers is even more difficult(printing on multiple A4 and then putting them together etc) so i was just hoping to be able to print this site's beautifull art, or any art pictures for that matter, on a A4 format (with my epson stylus SX600FW). Though ofcourse, i would love to have bigger sized prints because that would be even more amazing, its just that i dont see that happening with the printer i have and my skills with a computer...
If someone would be so kind as to help me with this, i would give you my deepest gratitude, because i just cant seem to find the answers im looking for on google T_T
