Couldn't find the scan speed for my Epson Perfection V200 Photo Scanner. Might just have to time mine manually ><

ofcause, I took time by hand :P
maybe if I have more RAM, 800dpi scanning is faster than that result.
I got a scan by Epson Perfection V30 Scanner.
take a look at this.

red lines are rotated at 90%.
>_>
got a new scanner Epson GT X-820 (Perfection V600)

it can 20 sec high speed 600dpi scan and has a bit less paper texture & brightness distortion due to 2 directional lights.

so called Digital Ice which is said to erase 3 dimensional noises couldn't work properly, but all futures of normal scanning are better than Canoscan 5600f which I had used before.

btw, is there someone who want to take over my old canoscan 5600f? it's a scanner which was released only one year ago, so I won't to turn it to scrap.
Jesus Christ - You want to get rid of a 1-year old scanner?

Midzki, you never stop surprising me.
Your Canon Scan 5600f is basically just like mine >.<
Canon CanoScan LiDE 100 Y/N? I'm leaving "very soon". Short reply's are preferred on why/not.

edit: nvm, I'll buy this along some Code Geass/CLAMP art-books, laters~

Canon CanoScan LiDE 100
That's the scanner I have, works great
Hello.
I wake up this issue again, because they have a question what to choose.
I'm going to buy a new scanner and I have chosen two models:
Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner
Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB 2400 Pro Scanner
The first scanner supports a certain quality and production technology. For another scanner, the standard extended warranty of 2 years to 5 years (extra charge) and a large scanning area. The price of both scanners have similar in my country, unfortunately, the model Epson Perfection V600 Photo due to the price, it is very reachable for me in Europe, compared to prices in the USA. Even when buying in the U.S. price to me was almost the same as for buying in Europe, plus tax. The second issue is little information on the Mustek devices. What would you have chosen in your place. The more I see Mustek scanner because I have some material in a format larger than A4.
Hey Buddys

A short question: I wanna buy a scanner too!
My Shop has an special sale on the "Epson Perfection V330 Photo" and the "Canon CanoScan LiDE 210". Since I'm no Pro, I can't decide with the tech. details.

Any Suggestions?
I'd go with Canon CanoScan LiDE 210. Reliable, well-liked, portable, quality scans (if you remember to turn off the default filtering); it seems to be the best all-around scanner in its price range, and most scanners that will be noticeably better will also be much more expensive.
I prefer the V330: It has white LED illumination which has wider illumination spectrum compared with the LiDE 210 which runs on RGB LED, leading to better color reproduction. Also, V330 has CCD sensors instead of the CIS that LiDE 210 uses. Which of the two has better color reproduction is disputed, but CCD has definitely a larger depth of field, which can be handy if you want to scan something that is not perfectly flat, such as a book.

I haven't used a modern CIS scanner though. So it's just a personal bias maybe.
If you scan monochromes mainly, and debind all books before scanning, then go with canoscan lide.
In other case, choose epson perfection.

I heard Mustuk scanners have some trouble on their drivers and technical supports, and color reproduction is also poor.
Ok, thank you for your advice. I got an hang now.

I wanted to know how scans that are A2 sized are scanned, since I want to scan some calendars and posters that are just too big to scan well without causing crease marks. I was also thinking about buying a portable scanner to avoid having the issue of crease marks and be able to stitch less portions of a scan, so I would like any opinion/help about this issue. Also Is the scan area just 8.5" x 11.7" on the Epson perfection scanners.

Any thing scanned that is bigger than your scanner's Maximum Read Area, you will simply and will only be able to scan it by scanning it in sections. And yes, that is the max normal scan area. So you'll have to scan your A2 poster a minimal of 10x, probably 12 so you have some overlaps.
It takes 8 for B2 size for me, and that's slightly bigger than A2.

Do you use XnView as your primary way to stitch together a scan.

Use photoshop, Microsfot ICE.
I don't have photoshop (cant afford it), just gimp which I don't really like since it leaves jagged lines when I try to filter scans. I'll try Microsoft ICE

Go get CS2 freely, legitly. Even the old cs2 has photomerge, it works okay most of the time, but you'll most likely need to fix 2-3 pieces. And i do mean freely, they offer the universal serial for you to use.

Thanks for the info. I'll go download it, hopefully I won't have any serious compatability issues on my computer(windows vista).
I'm very late to this topic, but I'll vouch for the Brother MFC 6490 CW. It's a A3 scanner/printer, but goes for less than $300 USD and even less when Staples has it on special. I think it has been replaced by the 6710, but for 11 x 17/A3 scans it is a nice deal. Saves a lot of time not having to scan in two parts as you might have to with a smaller letter/A4 scanner.
Possible to get a sample raw scan (no filtering, etc)? If its good I might buy it to replace my scanner.

If you need a place to upload it, just tag with raw_scan so it wont get deleted by moderators.
Ok, I have posted a 10.5 x 13.5 inch 300ppi raw scan from an Evangelion artbook.

Unadjusted as requested.

I had to get going after posting this. How did you make that link? I thought there might have been a "share" or "copy link" but nothing obvious.

If that sample is not giving you enough info, I can upload another large format scan. The 6490 goes up to 1200 ppi optical iirc, and what you are scanning must be pressed flat against the glass or it goes out of focus.

Another thing about the 6490 is that it can print borderless on US 11 x 17 or JIS B4 comic art paper, making nice mini-posters.
