netbooks are awesome!
So I just got myself one of these babies, and I'm pretty impressed. I gotta say that I can actually edit pics on it and whatnot. It's also great for trips and such. But what actually hit me was.... In certain (as in early 20's) anime series. I see these high school kids running around with a similar portable PC. Is that the same or something similar to what I have?

Also I'm interested in learning more about photoshoping, but which version should I get? I don't have the money for these adobe photoshop editions as they would cost me well over of what I earn a month. and saving for one would probably take a few months. Is there something much cheaper that I could get? Something in the price range of 200-500 euros?
Why buying it? Get Adobe CS3 from isohunt. Imo CS3 is still the best, as i've heard CS4 is a bit buggy.
Use the GIMP and GREYCstoration/G'MIC. They won't cost you anything.
I'm using both CS2 & Gimp2 (and some other tools)
PS has action which can batch processing while you are sleeping, and it's supporting 48bit colors. that's all.
but on one file filtering, PS faild :p
I can say Gimp is superior than PS if you don't need to batch scanning & processing.

(now I'm using CS2 on filtering, but still I'm using gimp to manual filtering, or crop/rotate, e.t.c. and troubling to get same quality to using Gimp)

It might be occurred similar thing irl but it's not PC but cell phone...
i like my pscs with 8gig ram and GPU support...
If you are working on 1000x1000 images the portables might be good, but with 4500x6100 scans, you'll probably want a strong laptop or a good desktop.

For me I use Adobe Photoshop CS2, Gimp, the new CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 which i haven't used much and their new Corel 11 ^^

For me, I prefer CS2 over cs3 and 4. Why? Cause I don't need all the extra options that comes with the other 2.

Now all i'm dreaming for is my new computer and the new Wacom Intuos 4 Graphics Tablet!! ^^
I tried GIMP, but I didn't link the UI that much :s

CS2 is probably what I need. I only want a photo app tool + some plugins like de-filtering and not much else.

Were talking mostly about 3xxx/3xxx pics here. And I got 600meg of RAM for just photoediting that should be enough no?

Also getting it the *cough* way is not easy....
