Japan's tightening policy on erogames
So, rape in eroge has already been banned, next on the list is anything less than 100% human (nekomimi, elf girls, robot girls, angel/devil girls, etc..) They're even talking about banning pregnancy in eroge.
Pretty obviously it's only a matter of time (and probably not very much either) before they focus on eradicating loli and basically every other thing they possibly can from eroge, likely destroying the industry in the process.

So yeah, what are your thoughts on this? Obviously if they remove all the interesting stuff from eroge we'll have much less content around here as there won't be all the hundreds of promotional images for new games that we currently get, so personally I think this sucks ass and they should grow a pair of balls and tell america where to go, since it's mostly pressure from them that's forced this to come to pass.

And moralfags need to be taken out and shot. Period.
Most of the time it's really hard to tell between normal sex and rape in these games lol

I don't particularly play these, so I don't really mind. The only games I've tried recently (Nami no manimani and Konayuki Fururi) lack all that rape, non-human and etc. stuff, so... yeah lol
America, and morals? They should practice what they preach.

Yeah, seriously. Fix your own country before you start targetting someone else's.

Kyoushiro - I'm not personally into some of that stuff (like rape or whatever) but it's mostly the knock-on effects these bans will have on stuff I DO like that I'm annoyed about.
I don't mind as long as they feed themselves with rape games..but go away from loli >:| . Loli hating countries should just keep the fucking loli hate for themselves, instead of inciting japan of shitty moral rules.
why dont these feminist groups start making "rape/torture men" erogames ?

instead of making/producing new stuff, they ban (old) stuff.

why not label old childrens tales as illegal, too?

way too easy, its note like these things harm anybody, and the few rapist that do kill women would still do so without any games heck even without computer and electricity back ages ago!

it just takes 1 ideot and politicans start going apeshit! same thing happend here in germany, too . Just because 1 faggot school massacer they started censoring blood/voilence in anime (dbz, 1piece, naruto). But in the news they bring the newest massacres/wars/murders all over the world.... GREAT!
Everyone knows stupidity of ソフ倫 (Ethics Organization of Computer Software). already some game makers are getting away from that. sooner or later, all eroges will become doujins.
Yeah, then we'll just have to hope they don't find some way to screw the doujin market as well (banning the sale of doujin content with these themes at comiket and so on for example).
As a young woman myself, I have strong opinions as well. They're most likely offensive to you, so I won't say too much.

Sometimes it makes me lose a little bit of faith in humanity to know that that's how people see you.
But I know that, and you know that, as long Japan is Japan or even that humans exist, porn will exist, fetishes will exist and no laws passed or nothing people say can ever change that (see rule 34). That's human nature. So I think eroge will always be here, and the doujin market won't really change either.
And it does make me a little sad when I read statements like the one Radioactive wrote, and Radiosity's reply. No one's perfect, no country is perfect, not everyone in America's the same the way not everybody in whatever countries you live in is the same. I won't pretend that we don't have problems in the U.S., but to be blunt, so does everybody/the world, and if we're going to fix them, we have to understand we're all in this together.

The only remaining world power is on an crusade to impose their 'values' on other countries. I'm in no way defending 'rape' games, just telling you my cynical view of truth, justice and the American way.

I know you're not. I just think it's sad that things suck so bad that so many people think that way.

Anyways, I'd just take the fact that the amount of news on this has been relatively small for such a potentially big announcement as a feeling that nothing much is going to change.

I hope you do realize that wit ha viewpoint like this, you narrow yourself and act pretty much exactly like this femenist group who demanded the ban in the first place. Because it's simple

"I don't give shit about things I don't like, they can ban it, I don't care" And hence automatically your SUPPORTING them.
"it should be banned because it's not something I like, Peoples are not allowed to have different opinions and need to be forced to not be able to enjoy what I don't like."

And so on. The fact is, most peoples will act like this, give shit about things like that, till it reach them, ALL censor start with SOMETHING, and then it advance, ALL laws and Rules start with something AND THEN IT ADVANCE.

You need to take a stance at start, and defend it, never jump in when it actually start to affect you.

For me Freedom of speech should be protected and enforced way more strongly then it does, and not JUST when it affect you. Only thing freedom of expression should not be protecting is DIRECT/Indirect harm to peoples.

Sadly there is way to many who say they agree to freedom of speech, but reality is, most is "as long as It don't affect me, I don't give shit" attitude. And this attitude pisses me more of then those who actually want to ban it in the first place.

And that's pretty much all I have to say in this matter.
Hmm? I don't think Mugi's post was off-topic at all, it's got everything to do with what's happening and the general mentality of the people trying to force these rules on us.

Also, I don't particularly agree with syao acting like the feminists who do this crap (I've known him a long while now, that's just the way he speaks, it doesn't necessarily mean he's actively FOR these rules, even if they're banning stuff he's not into), but I do agree with the overal sentiment of your post, there's WAY too much 'as long as it doesn't affect me personally I couldn't give a shit' attitude in the world these days.
It felt like someone was crusading again.
Not sure what to say but I hope that Japan goes by their own rules and not be forced to change their ways by some other country.
Well judging by the various things they've already apparently banned, I doubt it.
Ok what to say:
A lot of good content may never be present. Policy is another similar word for limit. The series of that certain company, artist and such may not gain much popularity, ideas may repeat themselves and games may not sell well if the limit gets bigger.

Why are there limits on Eroge games anyway? Fantasy is fantasy which is different from reality. Everyone has different taste in something. If there is something that offends you in that game. Don't play it. The game companies can have warning labels that tells you what to expect in that game.

If someone disapprove of something like incest, make sure there is a warning about that which gives the incest hater a "Keep Out" sign and tells them this game is not for you. It doesn't exist in your eyes.

If someone don't like games with lolis in it, make a loli warning label.
If someone don't like gigantic boobian girls (or boys....EW!), label for that.

.........uhhh.....Basically if you don't like something that contains yaoi, yuri, incest, rape, sex, gigantic boobians, boy-chested lolis and other things I can't think of or have yet to come across...then stay away from eroge games. Simple as that.

"Simple as that".....I probably don't really get the big picture so I shouldn't really have said that. I probably went WAY-OFF topic as well.

Yeah I should shut up and go back to posting somewhere else. I don't know what I'm talking about. Dumb-ass.
Nope, I think you've pretty much summed up how things SHOULD work. Just sucks that the moralfags of the world who do nothing useful and instead just try and ruin things for everyone instead can't seem to get their heads out of their asses long enough to realise this.
I still don't have a clear view on the situation.

It seems that the ban is issued by EOCS, not japanese government.
Then would anybody please tell me how EOCS works? I browsed english and japanese wikis and didn't find a positive link between EOCS and national authorities. Does this mean that I can still publish what I like as long as I don't join EOCS and do not violate laws such as no uncensored se*ual organs?
All visual novel companies need to join EOCS, you can see them as ESRB in the US. Here all Visual novel companies need to join them, and so does the publishers & stores.

The only way to get around it is to publish on the net, by yourself of a few companies who ain't with them. Example DLSITE ( the biggest ) is with EOCS.

No, some of them joined CSA.
Nitro+ belongs to CSA, not ECOS. so recently idiots dramas aren't related to them directly. even if CSA takes same stupid rules, they'll find another way.

Besides, there is few chance to establish laws that banning imaginary things in Japan. because they must be against The constitution of Japan. all censorships about 2d stuffs are voluntary regulations, not law.
