paper type & color adjustment
from my scanning experience, there are 4 major types of papers in color prints. it's important to know what's type of paper prints using before adjusting colors.

1) thick smooth paper
covers & high quality posters. it has the highest contrast range, and no bleed nor texture. then most easy material to edit them. I adjusted my scanner as a standard color profile with this type of paper.

2) thick normal paper
artbooks. the black point is a bit brighter than smooth papers.

3) thin normal paper
mags & low quality posters. to prevent bleed through, it needs a black paper on the back, thus its white point becomes a bit darker.

4) textured paper
some of doujinshis. black point is brighter than smooth papers by far. it needs to adjust black point carefully before filtering.

[edited]
#1 thick smooth
#2 thick normal (moeoh ~2008)
#3 thin normal (moeoh 2009~)

PS: a draft note of color adjustments
1) saturation
2) black point
3) white balance (R,G,B separately)
4) gamma balance (R,G,B separately)
5) tone curve

Those monthly manga mags has thin textured paper >.<

ex. Ichigo Red mags. (they have bad bleed throughs and are a bit paper textured)
yeah, except some high quality prints, almost papers have slightly textured (but not too bad to add "paper texture")
besides, monochrome mags are using the worst thin textured paper. but those are out of my interest (never related to doujinshi), so not listed :P
