Big problem
I got till March 1st to move moe to a new server

Issue is, I can't find hosting cheap enough to keep the site running.

Currently paying 445 euros for the two servers here, but the price will increase to 775 euros and that is just way to expensive.

Now I either have to shutdown the site or find cheaper hosting.

update 2/18/10: I've found a few hosts, and just finalizing prices.
update #2 2/18/10: New server paid for, will be setup next Monday, one mirror will be offline to enable faster transfer to new server so site speed will be impacted.
update 2/23/10: New server is up and syncing, planning to switch on Saturday
update 2/24/10: ranka removed from mirrors to speed up syncing.
update 2/25/10: migration complete.
ヽ(´Д`ヽ)(/´Д`)/ Nooooo

hope the site running even if the traffic is downgraded.

if many of us use jpeg mirror on each posts same to pools, then a slower sever may not so bad?
I have no ideas about server hosting, but can you find the same service in some developing countries like India?
Going by what admin2 has said so far, got a number of quotes already. Hope it all goes well.

Kinda odd that there aren't more posts in here... guess ignorance is bliss.
I was looking at some server costs. Some dedicated ones for 140ish to 170$. Don't know where admin2 is planning on moving em though. I did what I could for now gohanrice. Xd
Guess no one posts here because they have no idea what to do.

As for me, I am totally ignorant about web hosting, so...
So is downgrading the bandwidth an option? It would really be nice to see moe be still there, even if it becomes much slower.

It would be better for the site to close. That would be a slow death.
bump, updated first post to keep everyone in the loop.
... now I do feel like donating :o

Hay guys, why don't you put a PayPal banner for donations?
can't adult content is violation of paypal
Then how did users donate last time?

That sounds so terrible...

Ha, well, at least you got a server. Just be patient, you'll find a better server sometime, just wait... Give time to time...

Sometimes it is better to just walk away.
still wonder if a "torrent" based imageboard could survive even under heavy traffic...

ovh and other provider made traffic much more expensive, pushing 30+ tb per month on single machines is really costly...

Loophole that I don't want to always use.

depends...specs below:

Intel Q6600
8 GB DDR2 ram
4 x 500 GB harddrive JBOD
1 Gbit connection, 200 Mbit 95% traffic

375 euros a month

how much traffic is that ?
ovh has 370 euro offers with 40 TB / Month and WAY better specs...

while main server needs to be strong, fileservers dont really need a quadcore imho

OVH is a joke though, as far support is concerned.
OVH isn't an option for people outside France anymore. Not at least with new servers.

Also support is lol, 10 days to reinstall, 7 days to fix IP routing inside the datacenter. Is really a big joke.

I'll have to look into alternatives if the main server dies.

Ha... Please don't walk away yet... You guys are incredible, you can do it.
I can't help, but I'm cheering. Good luck
This site is the best, and it's thanks to you all

Awesome news, thanks for all the hard work admin2!

I must say the AVs system is being weird now, though.

Same. I was worried for a moment it was a deadly clone site.
Unfortunately Firefox treats subdomains as a new site so I'll have to type in the pw again at some point before it saves.

Or you could wait for a little while for DNS to get updated on your box(es) and your ISP's cache... Took a few days last time, no reason why it wouldn't take a similar amount of time to go across the globe this time.

Could flush your own cache easy enough, but your ISP's would still need to be updated.
bumping this topic...

there's a server move planned....but no funds to do it (I can pay for the servers, just not enough to keep another active)

You should put that on the main page.
