about 15 years agoWhat tools do I need to make anime vectors? I just used brush & pencil => livepaint ._.
aurica
about 15 years agopersonally i work mostly with the pen tool and paths
probably the most awkward/time consuming way to do it, but i like the control it gives me
other stuff it'd be useful to learn for anime vectors are things like compound paths, blends and proper use of transparency and feathering effects
i'm sure there are people on this board who are a lot better at anime vectors than me who could give you better advice though

about 15 years agoplus with the paths (shapes) you create with the pen tool, you can add a stroke in order to create lines or a fill to add colour (or do both at once)
it's strange to read that people can't get to grips with it...
i honestly didn't take that long to get the hang of it...
funnily enough, someone who just happens to lurk in the same irc channel as me posted 5 of my earliest completed vectors last year...
tbh, none of them are particularly good imo and i actually cringe when i see them... but i make it a point to try to keep my completed vectors, or vectors where i actually did something right, or learned something....
the vectors are (just in case anyone's interested)

about 15 years agoYesterday I tried using pen tool, and, no. Lasso is better.
But both are so boring, so I prefer brush!
asterixvader can use Photoshop quite well.

about 15 years agoMaybe if someone needs to continue discussing about vectors, it should be taken to the forums?

about 15 years agoI use the brush tool to color everything, including shades and highlights, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for.
