I wish there were more sun tanned girls in anime. The tan lines on her breasts and butt makes them much more pretty/cuter and sexy! 😍
Not just tanned, but dark-skinned girls too (and not just lightly matte skin that not really qualifies as “dark”).

I wish the same. You, my friend, you just touched a subject that always annoys me in ecchi/fan-service/harem/erotic Japanese media that I always want to complain/talk about (with someone, somewhere), but I'm always afraid, as I think I know the reason why, but it's a sensitive subject to talk about.

Did you ever notice (probably yes) that almost all these erotic/pornographic Japanese-style illustrations feature white girls in sexual intercourse with dark-skinned men? Did you ever notice that the women are always white, while the men are almost always dark-skinned? And sometimes they have unrealistic and ridiculous skin tones, like clay or something resembling vomit or diarrhea. And when you rarely see dark-skinned girls in such media, the man/men which she is copulating with has an even darker shade of skin than hers; or her skin has a beautiful natural look, while the man's is unrealistic/unnatural/ugly. You see that trend in every kind of erotic Japanese-style media: single illustrations, doujinshi, eroge, hentai... This one here is a rare exception when the guy is white; but even other works from this artist feature brown men copulating with white girls. Some doujinshi artists even do ridiculous things as change the color of the man's skin during the course of the story: it starts as white as the girl's, then it "magically" becomes darker during the h-scene, then it becomes white again after it ends.

There's an isekai eroge series, "Fantasy Tavern Sextet" (Isekai Sakaba no Sextet), available on Steam (I haven't played it, but I've seen the screenshots), that the MC has a white skin in some h-scene and a brown skin in another, but mostly white in the first volume of the game. The thing is that it becomes darker and darker as we reach Vol. 2 and then Vol. 3. Amazing, he must have had many sun-bathes in this new world during the course of his new life there; but somehow the sun only affects the MC, as all the girls are always white!

This unfortunate trend doesn't stop on erotic/pornographic Japanese-style media, it's also present in anime. EVERY ecchi/fan service and harem anime feature countless of dark-skinned male individuals, but you won't ever see a dark-skinned girl in such genres! See "To LOVE-Ru", "High School DxD", "Date A Live"... "Date A Live" is the least one, as the protagonist, Shido, has only a lightly darker skin shade than the girls, but all the girls are white nonetheless, all of them have lighter skin than him. "High School DxD" is worse, as you see MANY male individual with dark skin all the time, but, again, ALL the girls are always white! But "To LOVE-Ru" is the worst; you constantly see CROWDS and CROWDS of dark-skinned male individuals (the big majority of them), but, again, ALL the girls are white! BTW, I love/loved all these shows!

Now I'm finishing "GATE" (going to the final episode of the first season), and, for my surprise, even it not being an ecchi/fan service show, it features lots and lots of male individuals with dark skin (the majority of them, again!)! Some of them are REALLY dark! But are there any female with dark skin? NO! NOT-A-SINGLE-ONE! Just like the others! It's not an ecchi/fan service show, but it's a harem show, and it does have a few fan service. Actually, just not to say there aren't any, in this last episode that I watched, the 11th episode, a new female character appeared, a dark elf, and, as the name implies, her skin is dark, brown (the first and possibly only dark-skinned female in the show!), but only because she is a DARK elf; if she weren't a dark elf, I'm sure they'd have made her as white as all the other girls. She is beautiful and cute, BTW.

The only kind of shows that you will see the male characters as white as the girls (or in equal numbers of dark-skinned individuals of both genres) are non-ecchi, non-fan service, non-harem shows, like "Attack on Titan"; or games like Genshin Impact, that, thankfully, now, has a number of beautiful and cute dark-skinned female characters!

But when you see all those dark-skinned male characters in ecchi/fan-service/harem shows - specially when there are PLENTY of them -, while ALL the girls are ALWAYS white, it always annoys me. It's ridiculous, as it's impossible in any society of the world only male individuals being born with dark skin (specially when they are the majority), while all the women being born white! It's impossible, and it's ridiculous!

I would REALLY like to ask ANY ecchi/harem anime producer/artist why they do that? Why, as it's impossible something like this to exist anywhere in the world! These dark-skinned male individuals don't even represent the typical Japanese man, as most Japanese people have white skin, males and females alike. I'd REALLY like to know their answer! I'm pretty sure I know the reason why (the unfortunate reason), but I die with curiosity to know what they'd answer! I'd like to have the opportunity to ask that to at least one of them!

It's just a taste for the exotic
What a wall of text! °0°

Well, I have noticed that, indeed, but it does not particularly annoy me (as much as it does for you). I know that most Japanese consider as the top of the beauty to have the whitest skin tone as possible (hence the geishas’ white make-up). It must be because of that.

There are some exceptions, though (foreigners, or some Okinawan girls), but the explanation is hard to believe in some cases: Hayase Nagatoro or Uruka Takemoto (BokuBen) seem to have a permanent tan, just because they practice swimming. Well, why would still be tanned… in winter, or if their school pool is indoors??? There is no reason for their tan to last so long!

On the contrary: why girls never get tanned/sunburned after/during the mandatory beach episode (except for Azusa Nakano)?

I have written - as Trit said - a wall of text about an issue that has bothered/annoyed me in ecchi/harem/erotic/pornographic Japanese-style media for years, and all you have to answer is "It's just a taste for the exotic"? LOL. Well, it seems you are a man of few words.

I will explain to you what is that annoys me so much. The matter of the lack of dark-skinned girls in such media alone is not really what annoys me. I do wish and I'd really like to see a few, some, in these kinds of shows; I actually miss that. But that matter alone is not what really annoys me.

Well, the first, most obvious and most animeist explanation I can give you for that is that they never change the appearance of anime characters (including their skin color/tan); just like that they never grow older, no matter how much time passes. It's an anime cliché. Even if a character does get tanned/sun-burned in an episode, they will return to their standard/usual appearance in the next episode. XD

Now I will give you the actual, real explanation. What you said is not impossible. I don't know where you live, or if you ever frequented the beach in summer for many days in a roll. I live in a tropical country, it's very hot here and the sun is harsh in the summer. Read more...

Actually there's one anime at least that there's a beach episode where ALL girls get lovely tans and lovely tan lines! 😍 It's episode 3 of the OVAs of To LOVE-Ru's first season, "Welcome to the Southern Resort!!": https://imgur.com/a/CtyO5TW.

Thorcsf: I read it all again. ^^ I totally agree and support your stand against racism.

Well, I live in France (near the Mediterranean Sea), you should know that since the decolonizations in the 1960’s, we count a non-negligible non-White population (especially Black, Arabic and Asian). And both mixed couples and mixed breed children are not uncommon, in particular in our biggest cities.

As for me, I used to get a light tan on my forearms during my summer holidays when I was a kid, but I don’t remember it lasted more than a month after going back to school, in the beginning of September.

You’re right: this comment area is not the best place to have such a conversation.

Done. Sorry about that. I didn't remember that as I never use that page.

Thanks for reading my other wall of text. XD It's always good to talk with like-minded people. :)

The big diversity in France is something that I really admire. I am aware that there are many black and Arabic people living in your country, as well as mixed couples and mixed children, like in Brazil as well. France was once one of the biggest stages for the ultimate and most shameful racism-based crime against humanity; but today it's a free country with one of the biggest ethnic diversities in the world; and the French people is always fighting for justice, since the French Revolution, until this day.

Yeah, it's because it's a one-day tan only. But, hey, it's sexy nonetheless, you can see the tan lines over their breasts and shaved pussies! Sexy! XD

Be well and have a great day! 👋
