I've done it before - since there's no "chinese_clothes" or "asian_clothes" tag - maybe "japanese_clothes" should be made more generic because it's rarely used along with actual Japanese clothing names - kimono, miko, yukata, but generally used when you can't name the clothing with one of those particular names (at least in my experience).

indeed some later period chinese clothes share key similarities to japanese clothes as we know, nowadays, since much of the fashion was originated from medieval china. but this particular one is too symbolically chinese, and of a more ancient time. but for another pic of this artist, a woman in white with a fan. such style is only vaguely determined to be of a specific culture, chinese or japanese. in that case, i wouldn't even argue its origin(as i didnt lol).
