You just defined the thought process of all animators and directors. They do it because they can, and are able to profit off of it. They care about it, because they make money from it. Hence, they care about the loli fanbase.

...Though I don;t think that's the main point of the first two seasons.

From my POV, the first two seasons/movies are just a prequel for "MGLN StrikerS" and its own sequels.

The first two seasons are 7/8 years old. They aired about a time there were only minimal merchandising/franchise skimming. Now people buy figures, mousepads, posters, tissues heck, even condoms with their characters printed on it. So it's rebooted to make the most profit out of it because they missed the merchandise train with the TV Series.
