Hmm, this one might be a much larger resolution, but it seems to have been cropped a fair bit closer, had it's colours somewhat washed out and also have what a crease/book binding down the side.

Not sure if I'd call it better.

The child item is low-res and should have been deleted.

You're stating the obvious of any argument about original
digital images vs scans.
Of course the colors won't look exactly like the original.
Of course the entire image won't fit onto a letter sized book cover.

Can someone PLEASE make a wallpaper out of this? PLEASE?! ... My tears won't stop flowing! Finally someone got a hold of a really huge image. WE NEED A WALLPAPER!!

Crop it and you've got a wallpaper. Nothing stopping you doing that yourself.

Here are 1920x1200 and 1600x1200 wallpapers I threw together of this scan.

More of a color correction experiment to see if I could get them close to the digital image than anything else. I didn't really spend much time denoising the scan, so they don't look perfect, but I think the final result is decent enough.

I have to say that Arcueid's expression is so much nicer in this scan compared to the digital image where she looked psycho.
