I removed the dirt (the black dot on her face was either scanner dirt or a printing error in the scanner's book) and lowered the DPI of this scan to 300. The illustration takes up only a half of a page, so it doesn't look very good at 600 dpi (thus the overfiltering on the other version), no matter what you do with it.
