I still don't know a good general way to fix color jumps like this. I can improve it by going back and forth with light transparency to smooth a gradient over it, but that's time consuming (a stylus could do it more easily), usually still doesn't end up looking that great (because I'm bad at it), and is hopeless for areas with any detail...
