It looks like the large version of the game CGs has got JPG version only. Let's see if there'll be lossless version available in the production version...
If only jpeg version exists I think it could be excused

You are opening the flood gates for tons of game CGs with artifacts

Checkmate - Your call.

I may misunderstand what moonian meant.

moonian, do you mean that the files that originally stored in game's data pack are JPEG, or the CG ripper only released them as JPEG?

If it's the former I think it could be excused because it is *VERY* rare case (it did happen before, though).

If the latter, then definitely should not.

(Note: The CGs of this game out there are probably from the Trial Version, and the game won't be officially released until late Nov, so not sure if the following situation will still be valid for the Production Version.)

I also unpacked the data files myself, and found out that these larger 2560x1440 CGs has got JPG version only (the smaller, regular 1280x720 ones are either originally PNGs, or can be converted losslessly from the game's data format to PNGs, but their dimensions are too small to be uploaded here).

P.S. Anyone interested to verify it can download the Trial Version from this page: http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=914784&gc=gc . The game uses Kirikiri 2 engine, where there're a bunch of tools out there that can unpack the data files.
Well, what are we going to do then? If we accept JPEG game CG I want to see a specific tag for them.
It is actually a normal practice for the industry to do JPG version for 1440p event CGs. A few company also do 8-bit PNG for large event cg as well.

I would accept the JPG version for event cg if the png was not available. However, PNG8 is a big no.

Would a new tag such as "jpeg_only" to be used with game cg work?
That's sensible and acceptable.

They still need to be high-quality/high resolution and uploads must kept at a reasonable level.
Since this rip is from a trial, it's not very uncommon for the trial to contain low quality version of cgs (and bgm). I'll wait for the main game to see this through. Bookmarked this post for follow ups in the future.
