Degradation and roughness are felt because the resolution is too big.

If you resize this one to 1600px height, its quality would waaaay higher than post #374105, so there is no reason to keep that instead of this. And this one is not upscaled either, it just has poor jpeg quality.

The point is we always keep the best available one. If people think the size is excessive they can resize it by themselves.

Nope. Should probably mean "download the version that keeps the original size from here, and reduce only their DOWNLOADED copy for their own use".
