The premise for this show is oddly fascinating, but man that face is just nightmare fuel enough to turn me off from watching it.

Judging by the PV it will be total garbage pandering to edgy teenagers.

And the anime completely goes for playing that up, while shitting on the character designs and making her outright ugly as hell just to fit the "lol so crazy" more.

I still don't get it. All the PV showed was that it'd be about a WW1 type war with some magic stuffs added, not sure how that's pandering to edgy teenagers.

That has nothing to do with "being edgelords", and the PV is more than enough to know one thing: the arstyle is horse shit. You can add to that the fact that the magazine illustration cemented how they never even thought of depicting Tanya as - in any form, cute or else - an appealing character.
They made her ugly as sin on purpose so that her "delicate body" won't draw a contrast to her usual self, and turned her intimidating expressions into goofy reaction faces.
If you think things like this don't matter in a visual medium as anime, I don't know how to reason with you.

I don't think you know what the point of a PV is.

Looks pretty edgy to me as well. It's been bothering me for a while how a lot of anime have a lot of potential but then the over abundant use of over the top reaction-face-ish expressions totally take you out of the immersion.

I mean, I can enjoy it in a show like Love Live but in more serious themed shows, like what this seems to be going for, it really throws me off.

It is also curious to me how these promotional illustrations often look way worse than the actual art of the respective animated series. I seriously couldn't tell this was a female from this picture. This right here looks like an unhealthily skinny, edgy, annoying, and cocky shota nazi to me.
