I have to say, I think it's amazing the guy who scans these has kept it up all these years. We all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Having said that....... I'm also kind of amazed that after this many years he hasn't upped his scanning quality game at all. But, I can certainly understand having a process and not wanting to change it.

Not *that* bad except the color (which I believe he uses auto-contrast or similar).

Also keep in mind he fixed almost all the creases in his scans as well.

That's the most impressive part. Quite the labor of love over the years. The noise isn't great but that's honestly not the thing I take issue with. It's the contrast, or rather the gamma that seems too dark. At least on my display it is.
