MADHOUSE can either bring back a beatiful anime in a fresh style... or spilt over one of the best animes ever made

To be honest, this series was pretty much done all and through and ended properly, I really don't see any reason to bring it back, other than cheap cash grab. Definitely not happy they're using a title that needed no continuation.

Official reason: to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original manga.

Yeah, I put “manga” in bold, because for what I know about the new anime to be aired next year, well…well… We know that in the anime timeline, Eriol (IE Clow)’s mansion is destroyed at the beginning of the second movie, and is replaced by an attraction park. This fact doesn’t exist in the manga timeline. And in Clear Cards, there is a new character who lives… yeah, you got it: in the Eriol’s old mansion!

So, if my fears come true, It will be quite disappointingwe won’t have a continuation of the first anime, and we won’t see some characters (Mei-Ling…) again, because they never existed in the manga.

My understanding is it's a full reboot and intended to follow the original manga more closely. This seems to be popular lately what with DBZ, Sailor Moon and others getting the same treatment. The problem is none of these re-makes seem to add anything over their originals, they just update the visual style. In fact I've found they are mostly worse because the pacing and storytelling is either rushed or glossed over on the assumption that the viewers "already know." And just because the style is newer doesn't mean the animation is better because it usually isn't.

Call me a skeptic until I'm proven wrong. The fact that Madhouse is animating it should give me some hope, but they're not the studio they used to be either.

If it was a reboot, then we would have to assist to the entire Clow Cards’ retrieval again, plus their conversion into Sakura Cards. It would take a whole season, a minima.

I guess I’m not so wrong if I say that we are a certain amount of people who have known CCS mainly/only with the anime version, and this choice to be closer to the manga timeline will be disturbing for more than one person…
