I've tried so hard to like Urushihara. He's a prominent artist with many artbooks. If you take away the hideous faces, overdone huge hair (on most of his girls), suction cup nipples, and out-of-place pubic hair his artwork wouldn't be so bad. I try not to be so judgemental of anime artists, but I just can't understand why this guy is so popular. The recent flood of his work on Moe made my eyes bleed. There was one image I thought looked decent in the preview, clicked on it, she had blood running down her legs. That was it for me.

Totally agree. I think he may have toned down the shine on his newer work?

Someone on /hr/ took the trouble to 'shop out the blood on that ages ago. I don't know if I still have the picture though.

The migraine-inducing shine is a bit off-putting, but I can see why the artist is popular.

Very much negative. Especially after I found a picture of Kinamoto Sakura by him. Oh god, the horror. Later on I came across Hoshino Ruri as well. Needless to say I've blacklisted this artist tag.

(Seriously, Sakura should not have pubic hair and nipples that look like they came from a 90 year old, ugh).

I like this guy's work.

The nipples bothered me at first, but not so much anymore.

I saved a fair amount of this last flood.

Urushihara's work tends to be fairly polarizing, I'd guess because of his obvious styling (shiny skin, nipples, pubic hair, distinct faces). Frankly, so many of today's moe/anime inspired girls look so similar, I think a bit of variety is refreshing. And honestly, I don't mind his aesthetics at all. It's not as though most of the girls depicted here on this board are more realistically depicted or anything. Honestly, if we weren't already attuned to moe styling conventions (giant eyes, large round heads, wacky hair colors, etc), it might even look a bit creepy.
