How did you come up this conclusion? The hair and eye colors are completely different...

The shirt on the girl in the left...has the same decorations.

Yes the eye colors are different,but aside from that they look like them.

Post #330806 isn't an official artwork anyway (I think) so it shouldn't be taken at face value.

But indeed, not just the character designs but also all 3 of the character's garments are identical to those of the gals from Suisei no Gargantia. (Also see post #330789).

It was also an endcard for the actual series shown on TV, just cute a bit above Melty's crotch.

Yes, they are. And Naruko Hanaharu is the Character Designer of that Anime (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargantia_on_the_Verdurous_Planet)
