It's such a pity to see a good artist whore themselves out to Patreon.

This guy looks professional, I actually thought this was official art.

FYI Sakimichan is female.

7000+ Patreons and on average $14 a month. She is making serious income and on her own terms and even given her artwork being posted.

I don't know anything about legalities, but I wonder why she doesn't go after any of the 'boorus given that she should be able to hire a good attorney wherever the servers are?

Seems to me that she doesn't even need to do that. If anything the 'boorus give her more exposure. Hell, the second I found out about her Kickstarter I pledged for all three books. This website is why I was familiar with her artwork in the first place.

I just have a poor view of people who make money out of Patreon using porno of other copyrights. Original characters are fine by me.

How is that any different from virtually every hentai doujinshi artist? It's a sad world you want to live in if you believe that there should be restrictions on what someone can draw to qualify for monetary value.

Because with Patreon being their main source of income they will churn out more and more bland porno versions of existing copyrights. Feeding the naive people who pay for 'image of the month' or have original images drawn of them with the characters. Makes me sick.

I'll ask again, have they created any original artwork?

Luckily your opinion means nothing, so she can continue to make money doing something she enjoys while it continues to offend you.

I don't know if she has or not. I'm not the artist so I cannot speak for her. Not that you particularly care about the answer.

I do care about an answer but as you are getting upset about the criticism, it's just not worth the hassle. I'll go find out myself.

No you don't. Your intention is to somehow embarrass or insult me with the question, which is why you asked twice instead of looking it up yourself as any normal person would have done to begin with. You've already made the statement that you are disappointed to see a good artist "whore themselves out to Patreon", so it makes no difference what type of artwork is used for that purpose.

Sakimichan has been a popular artist for many years and has done a lot of original art, although I think mostly before starting a Patreon. As she's a character illustrator she likes to draw cool & sexy characters and with regards to fanart usually likes to add her own touch (custom costumes, different age/gender & whatnot). For original artwork you'll probably wanna dig into her deviantart (from before the heavy focus on Patreon).

Also, what people pay for (or should be paying for) on Patreon isn't the art pieces, you're donating to the artist so they may do more of the work they want which happens to be to your liking, and with digital art they usually also share sketches, photoshop files etc, and in Sakimichan's case she makes multiple tutorials. I don't think you can actually straight-up sell the copyright fanart like that. I think now she does more of this standard flavour-of-the-month artwork because of how much she's making on Patreon, she probably feels like she owes them that (so long as they like it, every artists seems trapped in this phase) coz I think her original character illustrations are among her best. But I do love some recurring characters (2B best robo-waifu).

Personally, what I hate on Patreon is when artists lock their actual/entire portfolio behind a paywall and rather than people paying coz they like the artists's (public) work and want more, they pay to enter this exclusive vault of their hidden artwork. Patreon was supposed to let artists just be more financially independent, I guess, and to give back to their supporters. It's not a shop.
