Bimonthly can mean both, it can mean twice a month or every other month. Look it up :)

While in French, we have two different words: “bimensuel” for “twice a month”, and “bimestriel” for “once every two months”… It’s strange that English have the same word for the two.

English has unambiguous versions of them too, 'bimestrial' and 'semimonthly' respectively. Just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as 'bimonthly', I guess.
