Real name Katou Kazuhito (加藤一彦), best known under the pen name Monkey Punch, was the manga artist for the original Lupin III comic series. He was born May 26, 1937, and passed away on April 11, 2019.
I think his point is, since the (original Japanese) news only says "Monkey Punch Produce" (instead of "drawn by Monkey Punch" or similar), he's unsure if it's actually drawn by him, especially considering he just passed away/presumably sick lately.
(I doubt it too - at least the coloring may not be done by him)

almost 5 years agoSome artists might do all of that themselves, but as long as the art style is theirs, they get the credit.
But if you prefer "produced by" that's ok.
