It's her eyes. Too seemingly "wide open"... Gives her a totally different air about her.

Maybe, with luck, it's just a one-off.

She actually looks cute like this, so I'm hoping it isn't, I never really liked her design otherwise.

Not suggesting it is not a cute design, just wrong (clearly, in my opinion). Her design from the game matches the personality she was given. She is not "cute" in that sense. A little more haughty than the others. Nothing wrong with that at all. She is not my favorite of the cat girls from the games in terms of design, but I really appreciate her personality...
