What are you talking about? It looks great! I can't see a difference to the original! It looks native high-res! The JPEG quality could be higher, though; according to my image viewer, it's 92% JPEG quality with high color subsampling; a little bit of artifacts can be seen in the picture. But the upscaling looks great!
Can you tell me how you do it? I have so many great low-res images in my personal collection that I would love to see them with a bigger size on the screen with good quality.

I think I've heard of it. And don't worry, I know, it's for personal use. I always like to view images on full screen on my PC, but I have many beautiful low-res images in my collection, and the automatic enlargement of the image viewer is not very good; this AI enlargement is amazing! You can hardly see any difference to the original pictures. It's much better than the image viewer's enlargement, that's for sure. :)

EDIT: Just made my own try on both sites. Waifu2x did a better job than Bigjpg. Bigjpg took several minutes to enlarge a 600x850 JPG image, and generated a 92% quality JPG file with many visible artifacts. Waifu2x enlarged the same image in mere seconds and generated a PNG file with much less artifacts. :) Waifu2x wins. Though Bigjpg can enlarge up to 4x the original size for free, and up to 16x with paid service; Waifu2x can only enlarge up to 2x the original size.

You can crop the output image smaller then 2x it again if you like, and finally piece them together.

That's an option, but the output image already had artifacts (the one that I tested), if I submit the cropped output image to be enlarged again, I'd be submitting an image with the quality already compromised, so the resulting image would be an image with even less quality and with more artifacts.

Filtering is fine, but upscaling is a big NO

I've tested with low noise reduction now, it removed the artifacts! It's a clean picture now. :D I was not using noise reduction before.

Nobody is going to upload them to Yande.re. As I said before, it's for personal use. It's definitely NOT a big no if you compare with the image viewer's enlargement! If you, like me, is used to/like to see images on full screen on the PC, viewing low-res images on full screen with the image viewer is not good, but this AI enlargement (Waifu2x) is a big YES in comparison to the image viewer's enlargement that I'm used to. Thank goodness and my fellows here I discovered this marvel now! :D
