Anyone know the story of this pic? it's really nice artwork but it kinda bothers me that I don't know what that weird old man is doing... and that thing coming from the girls neck... is a wing?

I would guess he's some sort of magical healer. It would appear he's going to grind that stone up for some purpose. And yes, that is a wing, but it's coming from her shoulder, not her neck. She appears to be a fairy.

spoilerThe girl is a doll. The old man is her stepfather and a master of doll making. He is doing routine maintenance on her. The stone is one of her body parts if I remember correctly. And yes, that is a wing.

Katahane has a really nice mood. I recommend it if you do not dislike x-rated and/or yuri stuff.

Uh, no. It's a professional game, doujin games don't tend to come in fancy boxes like the one I just described.

I thought all commercial eroge are packaged this way. I heard about it only after tarte went out of business, thus I didn't get the limited edition, which comes with an artbook.

No, most eroge are more A5 sized, A4 is less often used. I've got 3 games with A4-sized boxes, the rest are mostly A5 and a few are just dvd jewel cases.

Any chances to see this title in animation in the future? It will be nice.

There's a chance, however small, of seeing more or less any game animated at some point. It can take years though. Just look at white album that was animated recently, the game was originally released in 1998.

edit: of course, in this case there's white album 2 coming at some point, so releasing an anime of the old first game is a good way to drum up enthusiasm from paying customers.
