Why if I put on Google Translate this artist's Twitter username
"源🦎次はコミケ"
I get
"Minamoto 🦎 tsugi wa komike"
but if I only put the first kanji
"源"
I get
"Yuán"
instead of Minamoto?

Have you explicitly chosen "Japanese"? Because, if "auto-detect" is chosen, there may have a chance it recognizes it as another language (in this case, "Chinese") instead.
