howto:frames

Post frames are useful for separating pages with multiple illustrations, and for cropping out borders, without creating lots of duplicate posts.

Post frames can only be viewed and created in the post browser.

Cropping out borders

  • Type "e" or click "edit" to edit the post info
  • Click "Frames" to get into frame editing mode

  • Click the smaller "Frames" to add a new frame

  • A default frame (grey box) will be added
  • A zoomed in view in the top right lets you set the position of the frame borders precisely

  • Click and drag inside the frame to move it around
  • Click and drag on the edges to resize the frame
  • You can also position the frame by typing pixels values in the boxes

  • Once you are happy with the frame, click Save

Separating multiple illustrations

The same process as above can be repeated to create frames for multiple illustrations that appear on the same page.

  • Add the first frame as described above

  • Add another frame by clicking "Frames" again

  • Set the position of the new frame
  • Click "Save" to save the frames

The frames will appear in the filmstrip as if separate images had been created. You can navigate between them using the "a" and "s" shortcut keys, just like regular images.

Reordering and deleting frames

In the post info box:

  • Delete a frame - click the X next to the frame
  • Reorder frames - click the up and down arrows next to the frame
