Probably you can create baidu account using your phone number.
You can select the area code.

It's been a while since I created my account, so I don't remember the details but it's not that hard to make an account.

I followed that tutorial, but it doesn't offer my country as an option, so I tried my boyfriend's US number, but it refused to accept it for some reason, and I couldn't find anything about the error message it gave me. Maybe Baidu doesn't like that I'm not using an American IP with an American number. I don't know if that matters.
