Internet Explorer 8
Has anyone been able to create an avatar using IE8? I'm assuming it must just use one of the many functions not supported by IE8, but I thought I'd check with you guys first. Thanks.
maybe it'll derail the topic, but I want to know.
is it O.K. to upgrade from IE6 to IE8?
I got the recommendation of upgrading to IE8, but it's just the Microsoft downloader for me who using Opera10 & Fx3, so I'm queuing it.

Yes it's worth it, no, don't use it, reason for this is that IE6 is abonden by Microsoft and there is yes many exploits and security holes. Some of them doesn't even require you to actually use IE but use other software who use IE to use the exploits.

In any event, it's recommended to upgrade to IE8 whatever you use it or not.
My opinion: It's always worth upgrading to the latest version of IE.

But... if you have the choice, stop using IE right now, and pick-up a better browser like Firefox, Opera, or Chrome; it really will make your browsing experience that much better.

Gonna have to agree. Chrome has been my browser of choice for the last 8 months... I love it so much. Hell, since it's open source, I've even contributed some code (eg, bug patches) to it, as well as utterly whored myself out to the Chrome help forum.

Chrome has got a ways to go before it becomes the perfect browser, so for the most part, Firefox is the de facto recommendation I give to most people - which is my 2nd favorite browser.

In summary, for the life of kittens, don't use Internet Explorer anymore =D

Before Firefox, I was using Internet Explorer. I don't like it because I faced some known problems...and some strange ones.

Been using Firefox a long time...and manly because it has fox in its name...but it has been very helpful in getting things I thought I couldn't get before.

By the way, any problems with Google Chrome?

Actually, Firefox *is* pretty much the "best" browser out there. Extra points for having a fox in its name.

As far as Chrome... I'm utterly in love with it. I've been helping-out with the Chrome community a *lot* (hell, I've even got a personal thank-you letter mailed to me by a Google employee), and... I just love this browser so much.

Chrome has been absolutely perfect for me; it's clean, minimal, and fast (oh laudy, yes it is).

Rather than talking about how much I love it, the best thing to do would be to simply try it. Dedicatedly, for just a few days, and see how you like it. That's about all there is to say about that.

So yeah, I've been using it for about 8 months now, dedicatedly. Bapa <3z =D
i stopped using IE8 and started using google chrome or fire fox the move a lot faster and google chrome is easier to down load with
Only reason why I use browsers other than IE8 is because there are too many webdevs out there who like to develop for specific browsers with a kind of "I don't care about my users nor is it their choice" feeling. Way to not get the idea of what started with html.

Having said that, I think all major browsers have improved a lot over the last few years and I hope they all keep it up. Personal preference in order is IE8, Opera9, FF3, Lynx (just for kicks and giggles).
IE.... is gross.
I had IE and I could never upload a single avatar with it.

Download Opera and be happy.
