I would fall for such statements several times over the years. No matter how many times I try Azur Lane, it has the repetitive chibi gameplay, repetitive music and ear-grating "Yurei-san" starting aircraft carrier. Straightforward L2D and static images here and there don't constitute a pure fanservice game.
Things load too fast for me to get enamored with loading screens.
Not even lucky 6-star ship drops early on make me stay. Whatever makes people play on and whale on in Azur Lane, to me it doesn't seem to be fanservice.
