I've actually seen scans around the same level of quality kept here. I'm not sure if this should be deleted.

Yes the girl is rather nice but as you said the back gorund realy dose take away from her but I don't think it's cause to delete it but that's just me.

SG is a decent artist, and if you want my opinion, you should start deleting horrid-artwork posts like post #103246 before deleting good artworks with bad scan quality.
The background may be ruined in terms of screening, but I bet people who like this picture don't give a thing for the BG; they like the beautiful girl.
So, why spoil their happiness.

1000 of c77 doujinshis are scanned by one person with an old cheap document scanner which has color_issue, bleed_through, scanning_artifacts in any way of scanning.
and more, he didn't filter them..

It wasn't the screening tha its the problem in the background, its the jpeg artifact like pattern around the tree on the left/center.

There are many unfiltered crap scans which have the mixuture of scanning_artifacts + scanning_dust, + paper_texture + screening + moire enhanced by jpeg_artifacts recently.
Tgging them all is ┐('～`；)┌

Seems like some opinionated users feel that that artwork style and quality is more important that simply another who may not be as attractive as another artist. I feel moe is the site to represent artists' rather than only to serve the populace.

I didn't say that, Aoie. I don't know if you were talking about me - but we are not defending this idea.

What we are saying is exactly for the sake of Moe users who likes cute pictures, are them with scanning problems or not. I believe that, if there was a higher scan-quality of the same picture available here, then this should be deleted.
But there isn't.

And, as far as I'm concerned, one of the rules of the site is "Allow a medium-res picture if there isn't a better version of it somewhere else". If someone is too annoyed because of the scanning problems of this picture, then just don't look at it.

It's just like the people who complain about guro; If you don't like guro, then don't the hell look at it!
Why do you keep complaining about a good picture with poor scan? We just get a better version as soon as possible and then delete this!
This is just like a "preview" to the better-scanned picture, until it's not available.

I don't know why making such fuss about this. It's rather simple, in my point of view.

And, yes, I may sound too silly sometimes. But I don't do this out of retardness or something; I just defend what I believe is correct. What I'd do. It might not be the best idea, because I'm not a genius, neither a experient scanner or a moderator, but I believe we must provide the best service possible within the reach of the site. And this is what I try to do. Since I'm pretty useless, I look like a noob. But still, I'm not afraid of defending my ideals.
