Japanese pronounce the "r" as a "L" rather for, English speaking people thinks its "Luka" buts its "ruka"

Technically Japanese has no R or L but instead has a sound which is halfway between - a soft R or slightly curled L. Pronunciation can vary between individuals.

The Romaji (Japanese written with the latin alphabet) for sounds including it are : ra ri ru re and ro. So Ruka is correct, as is Horo and Karen.

Also why japanese people sometimes struggle with english words that feature R and L like Erectronics ;).
