My impression, which as a non-Japanese could certainly be wrong, is that it's less they deny it and more that they're so ashamed of it they don't want to admit to themselves what they did, much less admit it to the world. I'm not sure that's a terribly good stance to take (forgetting history tends to make for it being repeated), but it does seem to fit with their societal norms. (Everything being so indirect, never coming to the point directly especially about bad news, etc.) ―(T_T)→

I only like post #161539 myself. I'm actually glad this discussion came up because I didn't realize this was a moe gijinka. Given that significance I actually saved the one I liked in the appropriate folder in my anime image collection. （ ´∀｀） (Yeah, I have a folder for moe gijinka. It started as just OS-tan images but I decided to add all moe gijinka to it eventually. Ｏ(≧∇≦)Ｏ)
Edit: That reminds me, shouldn't this get tagged anthropomorphization? It's making a phrase into a character, seems like anthropomorphizing to me. (´･ω･｀)

Well using the romanization of the Japanese term (moe gijinka, or moegijinka. I've seen it written both ways.) would probably work best. It's just there's not such a tag yet and I'm not sure the mods would want to add one. ┐(￣ー￣)┌
