The fan-sub group will be very disappointed at what you said. I for one don't like watermakes but i won't call them idiots. They are volunteers after all. I think you can email them to get the original one.

Putting the water mark on an empty page is better practice.
Maybe some fan-sub groups don't pay enough respect to oreginal artworks/intellectual properties, but "漢化"(which means 'translated by') is never a declaration of ownership. I've seen worse, which says "foobar presents".
