Yumehito Ueda

Itsuka no ano hi (A Day in the Past)

When I think of Japanese scenery, it is strange but I do not think of the landscapes of my youth, but rather of the postwar years.

I think that this is because I have an image of this period as being a time when Japan possessed the power to create a unique culture of its own.

I hope that the current age will also give rise to a culture that will create beautiful images in the minds of generations to come.
